Step-by-step leader script
Step 1: Welcome (5 min)
Say: "Your phone has a great camera, and today you will learn to use it for grandkids, gardens, and even reading small print." Ask who has an iPhone and who has Android, and seat helpers near each group.
Step 2: Open the camera (10 min)
Show how to open the Camera app (on most phones, tap the camera picture on the home screen). Point to the big round button. Say: "Hold still, tap once, that is a photo." Everyone takes a photo of the objects on the table.
Step 3: Find your photos (10 min)
Say: "Your photos live in the Photos app (iPhone) or Gallery or Google Photos (Android)." Have everyone open it and find the photo they just took. Show how to tap a photo to make it big, and swipe to see the next one.
Step 4: Zoom and the magnifier trick (10 min)
Show how to spread two fingers on the screen to zoom in. Say: "Here is a secret: you can take a photo of a menu or a medicine label and zoom in to read it." Let everyone try with small print.
Step 5: Share a photo (5 min)
Show the Share button (a square with an arrow, or three connected dots). Choose Messages and pick a contact. Members can send a photo to a helper to practice.
Step 6: Wrap up (5 min)
Hand out the steps sheet. Say: "Practice one photo a day this week." Answer questions.
Leader tip: Phones vary. Helpers should move around the room and let members tap their own screens instead of taking the phone from them.
