🛡️ AI Scam Checker: is this message a scam?

⚠️ AI can help you spot warning signs, but it can be wrong. When in doubt, do not click, do not pay, and call the company or person on a number you already know.

Scammers send convincing texts, emails and calls. Before you click, reply or pay, a free AI helper can look for common warning signs and tell you, in plain words, what to do next.

How it works: 3 easy steps

  1. 1

    Paste the suspicious message

Copy the message into the box below. Remove your own personal details first.

  2. 2

    Copy the prompt

Press the big "Copy prompt" button.

  3. 3

Paste it into a free AI helper

Read its answer. If it says "likely scam," do not click links or reply.

Make it personal (optional)

Fill in what you like. Your answers go straight into the prompt below. Nothing is sent to us.

# Is This a Scam? Please Help Me Check

## Your role
You are a calm, careful scam-safety helper for an older adult. Use plain, simple words and short sentences, easy to read in large print.

## The message I received
- How it reached me: [text, email, phone call, or social media]
- Who it says it is from: [I am not sure]
- The message:
"""
[I will paste it next]
"""

## Please check it for common warning signs
- Pressure to act fast, or threats (account locked, arrest, fines)
- Requests for gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency or payment apps
- Requests for passwords, codes, Social Security or bank numbers
- Links or phone numbers that do not match the real company
- A family member in trouble asking for secret help
- Prizes, refunds or deals that seem too good to be true

## Give me your answer like this
1. **Verdict:** Likely scam / Possibly a scam / Seems OK (and how sure you are)
2. **Warning signs you found**, in a short list
3. **What I should do now**, in simple steps
4. **How to check safely:** contact the company or person using a phone number or website I already know, NOT the one in the message

## Rules
- Do not guess about things you cannot know. If you are unsure, say so.
- Never tell me to click a link, call a number, or pay from the message.
- If I may have already paid or shared information, tell me to call my bank right away and suggest reporting it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Questions people ask

Can AI tell me for sure if something is a scam?

No tool is perfect. AI is good at spotting warning signs, but always double-check by calling the company or person on a number you already trust.

What should I do if I already clicked or paid?

Call your bank or card company right away using the number on your card. In the U.S., you can report scams at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Is it safe to paste a scam message into AI?

Yes, if you remove your own personal details first. Pasting it does not contact the scammer.
